How to Add Equipment to Your Dashboard
This article will show you how to add new equipment, such as trucks or specialty vehicles to your dashboard.
n Tough Commerce, equipment refers to any vehicle or operational asset your team uses to complete deliveries or services. You can assign operators, track locations, and manage your fleet directly from the dashboard.
Navigate to the Equipment Page
From the left-hand navigation bar, click Equipment. Here you’ll see a list of all your equipment, including:
- Name
- Code
- Type
- Operator
- Tracking System
- Tracking System ID
- Location
- Role
Add a New Piece of Equipment
1. Click Add Truck in the top right corner to create a new equipment record. You’ll then be prompted to enter the following details:
- Name (required): The display name of the equipment. This appears throughout the dashboard.
- Code: An internal code used for identification or reporting.
- Type: The category of equipment (e.g., dump truck, flatbed, pickup).
- Operator: Use this only if a specific person typically operates this equipment. You can still assign operators at the order level — either by assigning an operator to a truck or assigning a truck to an operator within an order.
- Tracking System (required): Select the GPS or tracking provider the equipment uses.
- Tracking System ID: The unique ID or device number used by the tracking provider.
- Location: Designate the yard or base location for this piece of equipment.
- Role: Used to categorize or filter equipment based on its function or permissions.
2. Once all required fields are filled out, click Save to add the new equipment to your dashboard.
Your equipment will now appear in the list and can be used when assigning orders.
