How to Add and Manage Product Options in Your Dashboard
Create, edit, and organize add-on options to accompany your main products across locations.
Product options are add-ons that can be selected alongside a main product (e.g., Fiber). Your dashboard lets you add new options, update existing ones, and manage them across multiple locations to ensure they appear correctly during order creation and on invoices.
To access your product information:
-
Click Settings in the left-hand panel.
-
Select Locations.
-
Choose the location you want to add the option to.
-
If you’d like to add options to all locations later, you can do this after creation.
-
-
Click Edit in the top right corner.
Adding an Option
-
Select the product category under Categories and Products.
-
Click the Options tab.
-
You’ll see all existing options for the selected location.
-
Click Add new.
-
You’ll see all options in your account.
-
Tick the green box beside an option to add it to the location.
-
- To create a brand new option, click Create new.
Option Details
When creating a new option, enter:
-
Export code – Used to map this product in Tough Commerce to the corresponding item in your accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
-
Option name – The internal name of the option, shown when creating an order and on invoices.
-
Service name – The name displayed to contractors in the Contractor App. If left blank, the option name will be used.
-
Option group – Select an existing group or click + to create a new one.
Click Add to finish. The option will now appear in your options list.
You’ll now need to set pricing for your option—otherwise it won’t appear in your dashboard. Check out this article for the full steps on How to Set and Manage Product Pricing in Your Dashboard.
