How To Add A Customer To The Dashboard

In this article we illustrate the steps required to create and add a new customer into the dashboard

You can add a new customer at any time from the Dashboard. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to create a customer profile using the full form, which we strongly recommend filling out in full before inviting the customer to use your Contractor App.

1. Navigate to the Customers Tab

Click on the Customers tab in the left-hand navigation panel.

2. Click "Add Customer"

In the top right corner of the Customers page, click "Add Customer".

3. Select "Use Full Form"

You'll see the option to send a quick invite by entering just an email. This will invite the customer to your contractor app (if applicable). However, we strongly recommend clicking "Use full form" and completing all customer details before sending the invite.

4. Fill Out Customer Information

  • Name: The main contact's full name (e.g., the contractor or business owner).

  • Company Name: The name of the business or organization the customer represents.

  • Phone Number: Used to contact the customer. Be sure to add a ‘1’ before the number or it will not be accepted.

  • Email Address: The customer’s email address, which will be used for communication.

If no email is available, use a placeholder in the format FirstNameLastName@noemail.com. This allows you to proceed, but we recommend updating it with a real address later.

  • Customer Type: Select from the dropdown (e.g., Residential, Commercial, etc.). Used for internal classification and reporting.

  • Company Size: Choose the appropriate size of the customer's business. This may impact pricing tiers or support handling.

  • Company Address: Start typing the address and select from suggested options. This is used for billing, dispatching, and record-keeping. You can also tick Manual to enter an address manually if needed.

Optional Fields

  • Credit Account: Toggle this "On" if the customer has approved credit terms with your business.

  • Credit Limit: Set a dollar amount limit the customer can charge on account. Only visible if Credit Account is turned on.

  • Price Group: Assign the customer to a specific pricing tier or discount group, if applicable.

  • Accounting Email: If different from the main email, use this to send invoices, billing updates, and e-tickets directly to a finance contact.

You can leave the Custom ID, Custom 1, and Custom 2 fields blank. These are not required or relevant for most customers.

5. Save and Invite the Customer

When you're ready, click “Add / With Email” in the bottom right to save the customer and send them a welcome email to access the contractor app. If you'd prefer not to send the email invite, use the dropdown to select "Add / Without Email" instead.
